EXPLORING NATURE & WILDLIFE OF SOUTHEAST ASIA

Caught the first flight out of Singapore to Ho Chi Minh and upon arrival, our Guide was there waiting for us. Driving out of the airport was a challenge as traffic was pretty heavy and we stopped by to take-away some local coffee and tea before continuing our journey out of HCM city. Finally after two over hours of driving, we finally made our first stop - at a local restaurant, and it was time for lunch!! It was a local style restaurant with a variety of dishes for us to choose from, and most importantly, it was good. We had a full lunch and quickly set off to our first shooting site. We unloaded our stuffs and setup our gears along the road, then "chiong" (hurried) to our first Hide to watch our first Vietnamese Bird show. A country located along the Southeast Asia Peninsula - VIETNAM. My second visit to this developing nation not for holiday, but for its nature and wildlife, ie. chasing birds. Thanks to its geographical location and tropical terrain, much endemic birds can be found residing there, calling the country it's home.  1. BAR - BELLIED PITTA   =>   The most attractive and highly sought pitta of Vietnam. The female has a yellowish outlook while the male has a more greenish look with a green crown. This pitta is one of the most sought bird in Vietnam, and one of the most beautiful pitta ever seen. 2. BLUE - RUMPED PITTA   =>   An earth-toned look where both the male and female look very similar. The female is much duller and has a lighter blue crown while the male has a very distinct blue crown and greener back. 3. Located to the south of Bangkok, and in the province of Phetchaburi, a minor district named Kang Krachan which was later on upgraded to a full district of a small Township. What lies here is the biggest national park of Thailand - Kaeng Krachan National Park, which is one of the 3 national parks that make up Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex (KKFC).  A group of us, from colleagues to friends of the same hobby, finally get to travel after the long Covid shutdown. We were so excited that one of us actually started counting down one month before for this long waited trip.  Finally arrived at the airport of The Land of Smiles, Thailand.
